Dr. Jonathan Cons was born in New York, graduated from High school in Cincinnati, and attended the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University in Philadelphia, where he was a graduate student in Psychology.  He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, in 1974, completed a General Practice Residency at Upstate Medical Center, in Syracuse, NY, and moved to Maine in 1975.  He was the first doctor to practice at Sacopee Valley Health Center when it opened in1976, and moved down the street to his present office in 1986.
In addition to serving on the Maine Dental Association’s continuing Education Consortium, which established the MDA’s education series which continues to this day, Dr. Cons was the State Vice President of the American Society for Dentistry for Children, the State President of the Academy of General Dentistry, and founding member and original treasurer of the New England Master Track Program.
In 2002, Dr. Cons was awarded the prestigious degree of Master in the Academy of General Dentistry, a program which requires over 700 hours of Continuing Dental Education, of which at least 200 are hands-on courses, where the candidate has to present his work to his peers for criticism.   Fewer than 0.5% of the dentists currently practicing in the U.S., have completed this rigorous program of study.
When he is not in the office, Dr. Cons enjoys ocean kayaking, skiing, photography, playing the guitar, raising and training Bernese Mountain Dogs, and, of course, pursuing the latest developments in the technology of dentistry.  He lives in Porter with his wife, Judy, and 9 dogs.  Their son and daughter-in-law are currently living and working in Chicago.
